NC State Community Standards

Helping Ensure Health and Safety for the NC State Community

In keeping with the university’s values, NC State has implemented the following community standards for students, faculty, staff and visitors. As the pandemic continues to evolve, NC State may modify its community standards in accordance with guidance from federal, state and local agencies, as well as the UNC System.

Community Standards

  • Wear a face covering. All students, faculty, staff and visitors are required to wear face coverings while indoors on campus, as well as in any off-campus building or facility, and when using the Wolfline bus system, other forms of public transportation serving the NC State campus, or riding in university passenger vans or buses.

  • Practice good hand hygiene. Wash hands frequently for 20 seconds at a time. If soap and water are not readily available, use alcohol-based sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol.

Exceptions Include: â€‹

  • When an individual is actively eating or drinking indoors.

  • Face coverings are not required in outdoor spaces but are encouraged in crowds.

Special Precautions in the event of illness

  • When sick, stay home.

  •  COVID-19 symptoms identified by the CDC. If you have symptoms, do not attend the conference, and contact your medical provider. Notify your instructor and/or supervisor if you need to miss class or work.

Although the university has instituted many reasonable practices in an attempt to reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19, NC State cannot guarantee a COVID-19-free environment. It is possible to contract COVID-19 even when following safety precautions recommended by government authorities, agencies, and university policies and practices, and the pandemic could cause further interruption to academic and campus activities and operations. However, working together, we can strive to keep ourselves and our community healthy, slow the spread and each do our part to protect the Pack.

Current Vaccination Rates

To date, 37,385 members (84%) of our community have either uploaded vaccine records to the HealthyPack portal or have been fully vaccinated on campus. Vaccination rates by subgroup are as follows:

  • Faculty: 96.4%

  • Staff: 82%

  • Undergraduate students: 81.3%

  • Graduate students: 91%
