Canecca Bolden Mayes is an exceptionally passionate leader with a proven record of accomplishments spanning 23 years in public education. Mayes is a value-driven student advocate that has successfully implemented culture change to provide an environment where all students can become college, career, and life ready.
Mayes has served as a teacher, curriculum specialist, assistant principal, principal, Title I Director, AVID Coordinator, Director of College Services and GEAR UP, and currently serves as an assistant principal of Vance County Middle School. As such, Mayes is a professional with excellent interpersonal communication skills as well as work experience in strategic planning, academic systems improvement, program development, and team collaboration.
Her mission is to ensure that students have exposure to community resources and the richness of the community that surrounds them. Mayes says, “Our community connections influence and enhance learning for all. Gaining community support (local government, businesses, faith-based organizations, parents, grandparents, service agencies, non-profits, etc.) strengthens the depth of our ultimate vision of 'success for all.' We can not obtain rigor and relevance without building relationships. Together, we REALLY do win.”
